Robert "Bob" Wood

Robert “Bob” Wood (83), of Franklin County, most recently of Ashland, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025. Bob was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Sylvia Wood, and parents, Paul and Ina Wood.

Bob is survived by his loving daughter, Cindy Wood (Steve), and his great-grandson, Jake Parker (Adrianna). Jake is also known as “Bob Bob's favorite”. Bob is also survived by his cherished brother, Richard Wood (Jelaine).

Bob had a large host of extended family and friends, and he loved the special time he had with all of them. His favorite place to be was surrounded by his beloved animals on the farm.

In Bob's early years, he worked as a Police Officer for the Henrico County Division of Police, was an Investigator for Wells Fargo, and recently volunteered at Memorial Regional Hospital.

The family received friends on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home and Crematory – Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005.

A memorial service will be announced for a date to be determined (due to inclement weather) at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 665 S. Main St., Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
