Henry Rodney Cundiff, age 64 of Glade Hill passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and firefighter. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hilda Cundiff. He leaves his loving wife of 44 years, Bonnie Hall Cundiff; his children, Carl and Lori Cundiff, Sandra and Eric Ingram, Diana and Sammy Weddle, Randall and Kym Cundiff; grandchildren, Kameron and Karle Cundiff, Madison and Mason Ingram; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Elton and Alexis Cundiff, Ned and Judy Cundiff; sisters and brothers-in-law, Daphene and Harold Jones, Shelby Turner and Chester, Judy and Vernon Hudson, Debra and Steve Bowyer; mother-in-law, Lorene Hall; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fay and Calvin Hurt, MaryAnn and Watson Smith, Patsy and Larry Houston, Roxie and Oney Hurt, Jean Powell and Mike, Teresa and Benny Thompson, Joan and Ricky Reece; Cindy Matherly, Timmy and Shelia Hall, Jeff and Tammy Hall, Steve and Debbie Hall; special aunts, Maurine Manning and Mary Brown; numerous nieces and nephews along with his Jacks Mountain friends and Glade Hill community friends. Rodney was Chief of the Glade Hill Fire Department where he has been a member for 46 years. He was a lifelong tobacco and dairy farmer and owner of Rodney Cundiff & Sons Bulldozing. He enjoyed working on the farm, deer hunting, bulldozing with his sons and answering fire calls. He accepted Christ and was baptized at home on August 28, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted from Glade Hill Baptist Church 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Dan Agee, Rev. David Long, and Rev. Russell Prunty officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in his memory to Glade Hill Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 14, Glade Hill, Virginia 24092.
