Roger Lee Jones

Roger Lee Jones, age 77 of Ferrum, Va. went to be with his Heavenly Father and all those who had gone before him on Saturday, June 18, 2016. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and a true walker of the Christian life. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillie Mae Jones; son, Jeffrey Owen Jones; brother, J.C. Jones; and father, Owen Jones. Surviving are his three daughters, Rosa Lee Jones, Beverly Ann Runningwaters and husband Maddog Runningwaters, and Paige Desiree Jones. Also his grandson, Casey Stangel and wife Maydeli; his mother, Mildred Jones; and three sisters, Betty (Rabuern) French, Peggy (Dennis) Potter, Sharon (Stevie) Davis, and one brother, Tommy (Nettie) Jones; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; five sisters-in-law; and one brother-in-law. This man was a more than perfect example of how God would have us live our own lives. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 10 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Bud Roth officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. A reception will be held at New Life Baptist Tabernacle after the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society. His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of Beverly Runningwaters in Ferrum.
