Roger Cecil (Roger Bear) Arrington, age 66 of Rocky Mount died Saturday, April 28, 2007 in the local hospital.
He was born May 23, 1940 a son of the late Roy Clyde Arrington and Fannie Mable Durham.
Roger was a kind, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who lived to be an example for his family. He taught his family to always work hard, be strong, and most of all he taught them the values of life.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his step-father Guy Durham; his brother, Donald Wayne Arrington; and his sister, Mary Ellen Durham.
Surviving are his wife, Earnestine Hodges Arrington; his children and their spouses, Russell Cecil and Connie Arrington, Rebecca Carla and Johnny Hale, Richard Carl and Cindy Arrington and Ricky Carter Arrington and friend Mona; his step-children, Barry Hodges, Betsy Merricks, Deborah Gravely and Johnny Hodges; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Mazor Hodges; many special friends including his “Flag Car” and “trucking” buddies.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Bill Doss officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
The family will accept flowers or for those desiring, monetary donations to help with expenses would be appreciated.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday with his family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service and other times at the home.
