Rosemarie Rutten Dillon

Rosemarie Rutten Dillon, age 83 of Ferrum, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2025 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Karin Dieterle; her beloved husband, Allen R. Dillon; and her sons, Randy (Gayle) and Warren Dillon.

She is survived by her children, Madeline Edwards (Gerald), Dwayne Williams (Mitzi) and Monika Pullen (Bill); nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many other cherished family members and friends.

Though Rose’s early years were marked by hardship, she carried no bitterness. Instead, she became a source of warmth, strength, and comfort to all who knew her. As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she poured her heart into her family, offering guidance, humor, creativity, and unwavering support. Her home was a refuge—often filled with the scent of fresh soil from her garden or the soft colors of a painting she was bringing to life.

Gardening and painting were two of Rose’s greatest passions. Whether tending to blooming flowers or capturing beauty with her brush, she found peace and joy in creating. That same beauty flowed effortlessly into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

Rose will be remembered for her loving heart, her steadfast faith, her gentle resilience, and the many lives she touched simply by being herself. While our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in imagining her dancing and singing “Que Sera, Sera” among the angels.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Amber Fleming, her loving and devoted caregiver, and to Good Sam Hospice for their dedicated service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Society.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the formerly Bethany Church – 2820 Sawmill Rd, Ferrum, VA, 24088. Friends and family are invited to gather for a reception following the service.
