Roy Oliver Custer

Roy Oliver Custer, age 79 of Callaway died Monday, June 13, 2011. He was born November 27, 1931 a son of the late Willie Watt and Essie Bowles Custer. He was a retired carpenter and loved playing bluegrass music and attending fiddlers conventions. Roy also loved his wife and family very much. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lorine Custer; six children and spouses, Jerry and Trish Custer, Larry and Toni Custer, Willie Watt and Susan Custer, Roger Custer, Katie Cannaday, Teresa and Joe Bynum; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Wes Shockley, Grover Burgess, Glen Frith, Ned Young, Randy and Brenda Carter. Graveside services will be conducted from the Custer Family Cemetery 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Ray Bayse and Pastor Jeff Wray officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Bethany Church of the Brethren Building Fund, 2005 Bethany Road, Boones Mill, VA 24065 or Callaway Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 1, Callaway, Virginia 24067. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
