Roy Alvin Foley, 89, of Rocky Mount went to heaven to reunite with his beloved wife, Virginia Foley, of 62 years on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. He was born on August 18, 1932, son of the late Green and Helen Foley. He was also preceded in death by his oldest son Troy Alvin Foley; his brother, Raymond Foley; and brother-in-law, Edger Tosh. Surviving is his sister, Mildred Tosh; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Foley and Nancy Thompson; a son and two daughters-in-law, Elbert (Sheila) Foley and Sharon Foley; six grandchildren, Scott (Katrina) Foley, Lorrie Cole, Melissa (Brad) Anderson, Rebecca Yopp, Dulcie Wright, Chance (Sarah) Foley; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews that he treated as his children/grandchildren. He was a long time member of Henry Fork Church of the Brethren, where he served as a Deacon and in many other capacities. As he looked out his door he would always see two special friends visiting Judy Furrow and Joyce McGuire. Alvin loved his lifetime neighbors: Jimmy and Betty, and Mike and Bonnie Dent. Never a visit came to a close without the words, “Come back, soon, you hear.” Alvin will be missed by everyone that knew him as he was the sweetest man known.

His family welcomes friends on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service and other times at the Foley’s family home. Funeral services will be conducted from Henry Fork Church of the Brethren at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow at the Rigney Family Cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
