Ruby was born and raised in Union Hall, VA. She had a sweet and loving mother whom she lost at a very young age. Ruby met her husband, Willard and was married for 64 years. Ruby was a devoted wife, loving and compassionate mother and a dear grandmother. She worked hard as a seamstress and retired from Bristol Mfg. Company in Rocky Mount after 40 years. Her favorite past times were vegetable and flower gardening with her soul mate Willard, early morning crocheting of sweaters, capes, tree skirts and her well known Christmas ornaments. Ruby enjoyed baking delicious cakes, the finest biscuits ever, and giving of herself to others. Ruby suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in her last 15 years. Our family thanks the skilled and caring nurses on Unit 2 at Pheasant Ridge Nursing Center for the special care given during her extended stay. We invite friends and relatives to join us in a celebration of her life this Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon from the Flora Funeral Chapel in Rocky Mount, VA by the Rev. Eddie Hawks and there will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Gideon’s Bible Ministry or the Alzheimer’s Association.
