Mrs. Ruby Potter Reynolds, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Thursday, December 22, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd W. Reynolds, her daughter Joyce Elizabeth Reynolds, her parents Lewis Jackson and Nannie Kirk Potter, brothers Williard Potter, Ben Potter, Ralph Potter, Cliff Potter, Gene Potter, and sister Clara Jones. She was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her loving children Ms. Judy Lee Reynolds of Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Jerry Wilson Reynolds and daughter-in-law Mrs. Linda Davidson Reynolds, and Mr. Jerome Davis Reynolds of Rocky Mount, Virginia, and Mrs. Jackie Lynn Zeltvay and son-in-law, Dr. Nicholas Alexis Zeltvay of Roanoke, Virginia. She has left behind one brother, Mr. Garnet Hoover Potter and sisters-in-law Mrs. Loal Mae Potter, Miss Nannie Kate Reynolds, and Mrs. Annie Reynolds. She was blessed with grandchildren Jennifer Reynolds of Snow Creek, Lori Reynolds Treweek (husband Brian) of Ocala, Florida, Eddie Young (wife Dixie) of Penhook, and Jeff and Joanna Reynolds of Rocky Mount. She also has two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reynolds owned and operated a restaurant in Rocky Mount with her husband and brother, Cliff for many years, worked at Bristol Manufacturing Company, and was an accomplished seamstress. She always had time for family and friends and was a faithful follower of the Primitive Baptist Church.
The family will receive visitors at Flora Funeral Home on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 6 pm - 8pm. The funeral will be conducted at Flora Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 with interment following the service at the Potter Family Cemetery in Penhook, Va.
The family is very grateful for the wonderful caregivers who attended to Mrs. Reynolds in her own home over the past year. Thank you so much to Lisa and Taylor Ferguson, Sharon Bowen, Keyona Montgomery, Peggy Quinn Clingenpeel, Judy Talley, and Lottie Cundiff.
