Rucian R. Obenshain, Jr., age 91 of Wirtz, VA peacefully died at home from congestive heart failure on December 23, 2015. He was a member of Crafts United Methodist Church in Glade Hill, VA. Born and raised in Botetourt County, he was a World War II veteran, serving for over four years in the Navy. Mr. Obenshain was employed as a bus driver for 34 years for Greyhound Bus Lines, retiring at age 62. Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted and loving wife of 70 years, Jenesta M. Obenshain; one son, R. Glenn Obenshain and wife Sandy; and two daughters, June O. Obenshain and Peggy Wuergler and husband Barry. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat, Sam. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount, VA with Rev. Betty Marshall officiating. Visitation with the family will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Franklin County Rescue Squad, Crafts United Methodist Church, Glade Hill, VA or Freedoms Last Chance Inc., Burnt Chimney, VA.
