Rudy Utt, 82, resident of Penhook and formerly of Collinsville passed away Monday, September 9, 2013. He is survived by four children, Phyllis Utt Schlueter and husband Randy, Eddie Utt, Roger Utt. Teresa Utt Prillaman and husband Marshall; grandchildren, Brandi Schlueter Lackey and husband Mitch, John Schlueter, Brittany Utt Beckett and husband Jonathon, Colby Utt and Tiffany Edwards; great-grandchildren, Reed and Rhett Lackey, Brady Beckett, Cole and Clay Edwards; "The Boss?s" longtime friend and housekeeper Lessie Holland and best friend, Lee Hussey. Rudy served his country in Korea as an Army Airborne Ranger earning many awards. He founded, owned and operated Rudy?s Upholstery in Martinsville until his retirement. He was an avid bowler holding many records in one that stood for over 20 years. Rudy was a true character in every sense of the word enjoying a good game of croquet into the wee hours and socializing with family and friends at his home at Smith Mountain Lake entertaining all that knew him with stories from the past. Rudy was known for helping friends in time of need and supporting those he cared about in any way he could. He was proud of his donations to St. Jude?s Hospital and would appreciate donations in his name, in lieu of flowers. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2013. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 5-7 pm Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
