Howard Russell Pugh, 71, of Boones Mill, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005 at his home.
He retired from Fleming Foods in 1989. A highly respected Auctioneer for over 30 years, he was owner of Pugh's Auction Service of Rocky Mount.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Pugh and Mary Pugh Abshire; three sisters, Lonnie Pugh, Virginia Craighead and Pearl Clingenpeel; three brothers, John, Bob and Raymond Pugh.
Surviving family members are his loving wife of 54 years, Starrine Pugh; a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley "Pete" and Diane Pugh, Boones Mill; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Les Angell, Boones Mill, Lawanda and James Ravoira of Florida; three grandchildren, Angela Pinkley, Indiana, Sgt. Patrick Dowdy, North Carolina, Robin Pugh, Vinton; three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Kevin Pinkley, Tevin Dowdy; three stepgrandchildren, Les, Jr., Joseph and Jennifer Angell; stepgreat-grandchildren, Caitlin, Hailey, Jaidun and Xander Angell; four sisters, Belle Jamison, Elsie Webb, Mary Cundiff, Maude Beckner; three brothers, Ralph, James and Larry Pugh; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; many dear and loving friends, including Barbara Pate and grandson Todd.
He was a longtime member of Grace Brethren Church.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Ralph Miller and the Rev. James Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Boones Mill Baptist Church following graveside services for a fellowship meal.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Grace Brethren Church, c/o Rev. Ralph Miller, 5353 Starkey Road, Roanoke, Va. 24014. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service, S. Main Street, Rocky Mount.
