Russell David Young, age 99 of Henry died Wednesday, November 6, 2013. He was one of 18 children born to Samuel Marshall and Minnie Bedford Mullins Young on April 6, 1914. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 63 years, Minnie V. Young; unnamed twin brothers; brothers, Curtis, Belvie, Leonard, Roy, Orvie, Guy, Dennis, and Johnny Young; sisters, Clemmie Taylor, Lou Emma Carter, Hettie France, Stella Brown, Cecile Beardsley, Bettie Seay. Russell and his first wife joined Providence Baptist Church in 1938 and Russell was the oldest living member. He was also chairman of the Deacons for many years. He retired from Stanley Furniture Company after 35 years service. Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Reva Love Young; daughter, Mayme Coleman (Curtis); sons, Sammy (Regena), Marvin (Gloria); grandchildren, Lovelle Coleman, Amy Stanley (John), Calvin Young (Alana), Crystal Malanoski (Eugene), Travis Young (Leah); great-grandchildren, Tanner and Maranda; and brother, Paul (Virginia) Young of Henry, Va.. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. B. Glenn Voss officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Fork Mountain Rescue Squad or Providence Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. His family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the family home.
