Ruth Pettway Meador

Ruth Pettway Meador, age 85 of Wirtz died Saturday, November 16, 2024. She was born June 28, 1939 a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Pettway. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John H. Meador; and siblings, J.C., Kearny, Estelle, Hershell, Wanda and Roy. Surviving are her sons, Johnny Meador, Vic Reed, Mike Reed, Sr. (Cathy), Darryl Reed (Laura); like a daughter, Heather Tweed; grandchildren, Peyton, Travis (Christina), Chelsha, Mike, Jr. (Haley), Stephen (Kaylyn), Leslie (Nick), Josh, Jason (Kate), Jana (Brandon), Mayra (Alex), Alex and Noe; and 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Charlene. Ruth worked many years in the cosmetics industry beginning at Creative Packaging, then Elizabeth Arden and retiring from Eli Lilly. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 with Rev. Jae Song officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
