Ruth Anderson Shoemaker

Ruth Anderson Shoemaker, age 77 of Rocky Mount, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, June 3, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Myrtle Anderson and her father and mother-in-law, Frank and Paige Shoemaker. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Alton E. Shoemaker, her beloved children, Rita and Ricky Shoemaker, her four- legged fur baby, Heidi, brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Lillie Anderson, in-laws, Allen and Nancy Shoemaker, Tommy and Nancy Robertson, Daniel and Judy Hodges, several nieces, a nephew, great nieces and great nephews, many cousins, friends and neighbors. Ruth was a patient, kind and soft spoken lady, who enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved to read, do puzzles, travel and laugh. Her loving words and actions always showed her strong Christian faith. She will be dearly missed by all. Ruth fought a courageous battle, so in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside, Shoemaker-Robertson Family Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2018. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
