Ruth Perdue Wray, 94, of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at the Campbell Rest Home in Bedford, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents James Ballard Perdue and Nannie Kate Morris Perdue; husband, Howard L. Wray, Sr.; son-in-law, R. Lee Millirons, Jr.; two sisters, Ethel Perdue Odgen and Catherine Perdue Bennett; six brothers, Andrew Perdue, Robert S. Perdue,James Benjamin Perdue, W. Buford Perdue, Lenford C. Perdue and William M. Perdue.
Survivors include her daughter Brenda Wray Millirons of King William, Va.; twin sons,Howard L. Wray, Jr. and wife Patricia R. Wray of Mechanicsville, Va., and Hayward F. Wray and wife Cathy B.Wray of Bedford, Va.; grandson, Howard L. Wray, III of King William, Va.. She is also survived by two nieces, Mary B. Arrington and Rebecca S. Perdue; two nephews, Charles W. Perdue, Taylor D. Perdue and A. Wayne Bennett.
Mrs. Wray attended Doe Run Christian Church (DOC) while growing up and graduated from Rocky Mount High School. She became a life-long member and active supporter of the Rocky Mount Christian Church (DOC). The great loves of her life were family, crafts, flowers, oil painting and travel.
The family wishes to the thank Campbell Rest Home caregivers in Bedford for the years of loving care provided their special Mom. You all are such special people.
Graveside services will be conducted by Dr. Al Hagy on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Franklin Memorial Park. Mrs. Wray's family will receive friends and family 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151, (540) 483-3835.
