Ryan L. Stubbs, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2020, at his home in Rocky Mount, VA. He was born on November 30, 1979 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, the son of George W. Stubbs and Barbara J. Sorensen Campbell. Ryan graduated from Franklin County High School with the class of 1997. Following that he spent one year studying fisheries biology at Harbor Branch School of Marine Research in Vero Beach Florida. Soon after that, he returned to Rocky Mount where he had lived every since. Ryan was widely known throughout Franklin County. He built a handyman business which included painting, pressure washing, landscaping and light construction. Over time he built a large client base and worked very hard to keep up with all that was requested of him. Beyond his hard work, was the remarkable relationships he built. He was loved by all for his kind and positive attitude as well as his broad smile! Ryan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and above all hiking! He also became very skilled at leather craft and eventually sold his products in several craft stores in and around Franklin County. Surviving Ryan are his father, George Stubbs; step-mother, Barbara Pagans Stubbs; step-father, Melvin Campbell; sister, Heather Wray; and two step-sisters, Lindsey King and Megan Green. Ryan also had several cousins and many nieces and nephews. All that knew Ryan will miss him greatly! An outdoor service to celebrate his life is being planned for family and friends on January 23, at his home on 90 High Street, Rocky Mount. We’ll do our best to pass along details of this event through social media and word of mouth. We intend on bringing out his leather crafts if you would like to purchase any with proceeds going towards mental health research. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
