Sallie Carol Saunders Hancock

Sallie Carol Saunders Hancock, 72, of Rocky Mount was welcomed into the House of the Lord on April 7 ^th , 2021. She was born on May 24 ^th , 1948 to the late Ruth Kennedy Saunders and Robert Lee Saunders. Sallie was preceded in death by her husband Henry Douglas Hancock Sr., sisters, brother, and several in-laws. She is survived by her daughter Tammy Peters (Joey Snead) and son Henry Douglas Hancock Jr. (Kim Gentry); grandchildren Joel Peters (Sarah), Samantha Hancock, Emily Peters (Colton Whittaker), Amber Hancock, and Autumn Hancock; great-grandchildren Malachi, Christopher, Emersyn, and Annie Grace; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Reggie Batterson, sisters-in-law Phyllis Reid (Frank) and Joyce Norris (Rex), and several other special friends. Sallie was a survivor of breast cancer for 20 years. She loved her family and loved being Grandma, Granny Sallie, and Great Sallie Granny more than anything. The family would like to thank the ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, and other staff at Franklin Carilion Memorial Hospital for their exemplary care during her time spent with them. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. A memorial service for Sallie will be held at a later date.
