Sally Dematrice James

Sally Dematrice James, age 72 of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023. She was preceded in death by her sister, Bonnie Young. Surviving are her husband, Buford James; son, Greg James; daughter-in-law, Tracy James; mother, Sallie Kate Hodges; sister, Ann Hodges; brother, Wayne Hodges; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Nettie Jones. Dematrice was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023 with Pastor Eddie Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made Planned Pethood or the Rocky Mount SPCA.
