Sandra Lynn Young

Sandra Lynn “Sandy” Young, age 53 of Rocky Mount passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Louise Mathena; and grandfather, Everette Young. Sandy graduated as an honor student from Franklin County High School. She was in the top 10% of her graduating class. She received a scholarship from Collegiate Secretaries International and went to Patrick Henry Community College and received an associate degree in Office Systems Technology. Sandy was a favorite waitress at Quincy’s Steakhouse and enjoyed serving her friends and family who came to see her. Sandy loved to sing and was a member of the Franklin County High School choir and her church choir (Thomasson Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville) for many years. Even after disability from her car accident in 1989, Sandy remained strong in her faith in God and always smiled and persevered through all her hardships and struggles. Sandy always gave a “thumbs up” with a bright smile to all she was in contact with. Surviving are her parents, Jerald and Phyllis Young; twin sister, Cindy Todd; grandmother, Edith Young; nieces, Heather Todd and Lauren Todd; nephew, Seth Todd; several great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022 with Pastor Wayne Fulcher and Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will be in Henry Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
