Sarah Lee Minnix, age 85 of Boones Mill, VA passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021. Sarah was born on November 25, 1935, daughter of the late Bob P. Minnix and Evelyn B. Minnix. Sarah is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Ann Minnix; her beloved nephew, Jason (who passed away April 15, 2021) and his wife Brandy; her beloved niece, Courtney Hayth (Eric); and her very special grandnephews, Coleman Hayth and Declan Hayth. Sarah loved her family unconditionally. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with Jason and Courtney and she cherished watching them grow and being an integral part of their lives. She was delighted when Coleman and Declan came along, and they were truly “the apple of her eye”. She leaves a host cousins and friends. Sarah was a thoughtful, loving, and caring person. She was very social and never met a stranger. She welcomed people into her heart freely and enjoyed sharing conversation with almost anyone. Sarah spent a large part of her life as co-owner, with her father, of the Mountain View Service Station. She spent many hours serving the community there and enjoyed the social interaction with the patrons who visited the store on a regular basis. Later in life she enjoyed a position that seemed to be created for her. She spent 13 years as a People Greeter at Walmart. No one was better suited to greet people than Sarah as she loved to welcome people as they entered the store. In the last years of her life, she resided at the Franklin Health and Rehabilitation Center where we lovingly dubbed her as the Franklin Health Care Greeter as she rolled up and down the halls talking with folks and caring about them as people. The family would like to thank the staff of Franklin Health and Rehab for their care for Sarah. She loved the staff there and she became, as is characteristic of Sarah, a loving part of many of their lives. Sarah was a member of the Boones Mill Christian Church and attended there regularly as a youth. She has many loving memories and ties with that congregation. But in her later years she faithfully attended the Boones Mill Brethren Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Boones Mill Church of the Brethren, 25366 Virgil Goode Highway, Boones Mill VA 24065. A memorial service will be held at Boones Mill Church of the Brethren, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 with Pastor Jerry Naff officiating. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
