Shelba Jean Cannaday Bousman

On the night of October 22, 2022, our mom and best friend went home to be with Jesus and so many loved ones in Heaven. Shelba Jean Cannaday Bousman was born on November 19, 1937 to Walter Leonard and Julia Plybon Cannaday. She was predeceased by her loving husband, William Hanel (Billy) Bousman. Jr., her parents, Leonard and Julia, granddaughters, Shannon, Bethany and Brianna, three infant sons, two brothers, Andrew and Dean. Mama was a big hearted, hardworking, dedicated loyal woman. She never met a stranger and helped every person that crossed her path that needed it. She was a member of the Snow Creek Rescue Squad from ’72-21’ and the Ladies Auxiliary from ’74-21’ being a life member of both organizations. She raised tobacco, many gardens, was a hairdresser and worked at Doyle Enterprises for a number of years. She played softball and worked three jobs sometimes. She stayed busy. As young children and adult children, we always knew that she was there for us. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Cheryl Bousman, Lisa Ferguson (Jimmy), Bill Bousman (Tracy), grandchildren, Trey, Taylor (Brayden), Shane (Ricci), Kristen (Chris), great-grandchildren, Morgan (Carlos), Caroline, Loreli, Emory, Laikyn, Lainey, great-great-grandchild,  Easton, three sisters, Margaret Motley, Betsy (Marvin) Shepherd, Helen (Bobby) Teague, special friend, Eric Reynolds, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Brothers and sisters in-law, Carl (Marie) Bousman, Betty Reynolds, Connie (Doug) Beatty, Bonnie (Bob) Gattanella, Gerald Bousman. Thank you to the Snow Creek community for the prayers, visits and food. She loved you all. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Franklin County Humane Society. Funeral services will be conducted at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Mike Gallimore and Pastor Phillip Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 Wednesday prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Services and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
