Shirley Mae Ellis

Shirley Mae Robertson Ellis, 77, of Hardy, VA passed away on January 3, 2018 at her home. She was born September 22, 1940 to the-late Charlie Woodrow & Grace Pagans Robertson. She was a member of Oyler's United Methodist Church in Hardy, VA. Prior to an illness beginning in 2005, Shirley had worked at Kenrose Apparel, and in the housekeeping department at Trinity Mission in Rocky Mount, VA. In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Charles "Boots" Robertson; a sister, Joyce Jean Robertson Rush; the father of her children Arthur Bell Ellis; and four nephews. Shirley is survived by her children, Arthur Wayne Ellis, Sr. (Donna) of Hardy; Grace Faye Ellis Turner (Gary) of Rocky Mount; Ronnie Ray Ellis of Rocky Mount; and Gary Lee "Chubby" Ellis of the home. Grandchildren, Nicky Ray Ellis (Tabitha) of Hardy; Arthur Wayne Ellis, Jr. (Nikki); Amanda Lynn Ellis Doss (Mike) of Rocky Mount; Travis Wayne Turner of Rocky Mount; Shannon Lee Turner of the home; and Dana Garland Turner (Alex) of Rocky Mount. Great grandchildren, Jazlyn Ellis (Davey); Lexi Ellis, Brooklynn Ellis, Miranda Doss, Sophia Doss, Jaxon Doss, Tanner Ellis, and Raylynn Ellis. Step grand-children, Gary Ray & Amy Turner; and Savannah (David) Spicer and their families. She also leaves behind brothers, Sherman (Sue) Robertson and Kirk (Carol) Robertson. Sisters, Louise Ellis; Rachel Pruitt; Dianne (Wayne) Mitchell; Marcella (Allen) Hodges; Patricia Hodges; and Brenda (Bobby) Robertson. Sister-in-law Phyllis Robertson. Special nephew Dale Rush. Several other nieces and nephews; and special friend of the family Ray Cheek. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 with Rev. Buzzy Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
