Shirley Ann Joplin

Shirley Scruggs Joplin, age 69 of Rocky Mount passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at her home. She was a graduate of Mount Hope High School in West Virginia. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, cooking, watching movies, and staying in contact with her friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beulah Rice Scruggs; husband, James (Jim) Joplin. She is survived by her two sons, Jay Joplin and his children, Chloe and Daniel; John Joplin and his children, Kaydence, Joshua and Cassidy; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Joplin and John; nephew, Joe Joplin and wife Sarah; niece, Alice Joplin and husband Charles Ellis; lifelong friends, Patty Cooper and Sue Frith; along with many other friends. Inurnment will be held at the Saunders Family Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
