Shirley Dillon Scott

Shirley Dillon Scott, age 74 of Rocky Mount passed away Friday, December 9, 2011. She accepted Christ at age 13 and was a charter member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church where she was faithful serving in many capacities including clerk, Sunday School teacher and on various committees. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Esbon and Gracie Bowles Dillon; brothers, Redia, Clifford, Chapman and Herbert; sister Elizabeth Cooper. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, H. Curtis Scott; son, Howard Lee Scott and wife Rita of Rocky Mount; daughter, Amy Scott Ayres and fiancé Ken of Philadelphia, PA; grandsons, Chris Scott and wife Crystal of Roanoke, Joseph Ayres, of Philadelphia, PA; great grandson, Bryce Scott, Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Frances Dillon and Jean Dillon; special niece, Betty Ann Shepherd; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Vera Emerson, Percy and Lucille Shelor, Raymond and Vivian Scott; other nieces, nephews and friends at Franklin Heights Baptist Church and J &J Fashions where she worked over 20 years. Memorials may be made to Franklin Heights Baptist Church 110 Hilltop Dr. Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Parris and Rev. J. Larry Holland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
