Shirley Boothe Wood

Shirley Boothe Wood, age 85 of Roanoke passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 unexpectedly after complications from surgery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip (Jack) Wood; father and mother, Jahue and Bessie Boothe; brothers, Luther, Luster, Marvin, Claude, Archie and Billy; sisters, Mary, Dorothy, Tiny, Jacqueline, and Gracie. She is survived by a sister, Barbara (Raymond) Akers; brother-in-law, Malcolm Montgomery; sisters-in-law, Bunah Boothe and Frances Boothe; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and her church family. In lieu of flowers Shirley requested that donations be made to the local chapter of Shriners Hospital (628 Campbell Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016). Funeral services will be conducted from North Roanoke Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Daniel Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in Old Dominion Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
