Sterling Thomas Belcher, age 71 of Rocky Mount passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011. Sterling served four years in US Army and retired from Dupont with 31 years service. He enjoyed farming and promoting the Tripple Creek Park “Festival in the Pines”. He was also 30 year promoter in the Blue Grass Community, a three time nominee for Promoter of the Year SPBGMA, presented Key to the Town of Rocky Mount 2005, Virginia Folk Music Association “Special Recognition Award 2005” for 25 years dedicated service and special recognition from the East Coast Bluegrass Association. Sterling was born June 14, 1939 son of the late Clyde and Ethel Holland Belcher and was also preceded in death by his brother, Monte Belcher; sisters Marie Young and Louise Berger. Surviving are his wife, Pat Dillon Belcher; son, Stacy Belcher and girl-friend Bianca Falke; daughter and son-in-law, Dreama Belcher and Larry Stephenson; a loving grandfather to Falon Whysper Stephenson; and sister, Joyce Wood. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Elder Mark Terry and Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5:00 til 8:00 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
