Susan Elizabeth Hodges, age 96 of Snow Creek departed this life on Thursday, January 27, 2011. She was born in Franklin County on May 24, 1914, a daughter of the late Joe Johnson Hodges and Mary Dunman Hodges. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Claude A. Hodges; five brothers; a sister; and great-granddaughter, Emily Dale Bowman. Survivors include a sister, Lorene H. Hall of Rocky Mount; as well as four daughters and their husbands, Helen H. Plybon and Silas (Buddy) of Ridgeway, Judy H. Bowman and James of Ridgeway, Garnet H. Barnes and Eddie of Woolwine, and Karleen H. Leffue and David of Snow Creek; her nine grandchildren includes, Lisa Quinn of New York City, Michael Plybon of Greenville, SC, Sabrina Bliss of Holly Springs, NC, Allen Bowman of Richmond, VA, Robert Bowman of Advance, NC, Neal Bowman of Martinsville, Brian Barnes of Woolwine, Sunny Jones of Columbia, SC, and Justin Leffue of Snow Creek. In addition she is survived by twelve great-grandchildren; a special niece and caregivers, Elaine and J.T. Cobbler. Other survivors include 29 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hodges was a member of Snow Creek Church for 73 years. She was also a member of the Snow Creek Order of the Eastern Star. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Snow Creek Christian Church with Pastor Jim Compton officiating. Interment will follow in the Snow Creek Cemetery. Following the interment, the family will receive friends in the church social hall.
