T. Wilson Slaten, 93 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at his residence.
He was born October 23, 1913 a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Nannie Cooper Slayton. He was a Supervisor with Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Company in Baltimore during World War II and upon returning to Franklin County he was a partner in Hub Motors. Mr. Slaten retired as supervisor of School Bus Transportation for Franklin County Public Schools. He was educated in Franklin County Public Schools and Averett College and was a long standing member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, taught Sunday school, member of the choir and finance committee.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his siblings Grace Hunt, Blanche Strait, Helen Hunt, Cooper Slayton, Dorothy Anderson and Evelyn Hensley.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Mary Dillon Slaten; sister and brother-in-law, Garnett and Aaron McCrickard; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herbert and Mildred Dillon, Jack and Betty Dillon, Katherine Dillon; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Dr. Jack Corvin officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday with his family receiving friends from 6 – 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
