Taylor Maurice Robertson

Taylor Maurice Robertson, 85, of Rocky Mount, Virginia went to be with the Lord on the morning of July 13, 2020. Taylor was born on August 19, 1934 in Rocky Mount, Virginia and was the youngest child of the late Otey and Alberta (Johnson) Robertson. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert Robertson; great-grandson, Carson Altice; brother, James Robertson; and two sisters, Norene Guthrie and Margaret Lawson. Taylor was enlisted in the National Guard for several years and then went on to retire from MW after 35 years. He was a big New York Yankees fan and coached baseball/softball for over 20 years. He also loved to listen to bluegrass and gospel music. Taylor was a longtime member of Redeeming Life PHC for over 40 years. Taylor is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mayree (Tosh) Robertson; his son, Ronnie Robertson (Marea); two daughters, Rita Layman (Derron) and Becky Pruitt (Barry); seven grandchildren, Billy Riddle (Tara), Patrick Robertson, Chris Riddle (Coree), Josh Pruitt (Tabitha Davis), Jessie Gray (Austin), Casey Altice (Josh), and Andrew Robertson; four great-grandchildren, Caedyn Riddle, Chloee Riddle, Colby Gray, and Claire Riddle. Special son and daughter, Steve and Shelia Dillon. Special grandson, Cameron Dillon. Special family members, George Bannister; along with numerous sister/brother-in-law’s, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at Redeeming Life PHC on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 5-8 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Riddle, Chris Riddle, Josh Pruitt, Andrew Robertson, Cameron Dillon, and David Kirk.
