On Wednesday, November 27, 2013 Tessie Harrison Perdue, age 89 of Redwood went to be with her Lord and Savior and to be joined with her husband, Henry D. Perdue. She was also preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Gladys Hontz and Thelma Bowman; brothers, Ernest Harrison, Earl Harrison and Jackie Love; sister, Jean Smith. She served the Redwood Community for 30 years as Postmaster while helping her husband in tobacco. Surviving are her niece, Bonnie Bowman O?Neal (Toby); great-nephews, John Wade O?Neal (Karen), William Douglas O?Neal (Nicole); the light of her life her great-great-nephew, Henry D. O?Neal; niece Tara Edwards (Mark) of Mooresville, NC, a nephew, John W. Bowman (Annette); great-niece, Beth Ann; sisters and brothers, Mildred Hall and Betsy Hall of Rocky Mount, Hazel Brown of Wirtz, Jay Harrison of Lynchburg, Lowell Love of Rocky Mount; numerous other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank caregivers, Ruby Metts and Elnora Pasley for all their love and compassion, and special cousins, Frances and Penny Brown. Also thanks to Karen Tosh, RN and Kitty Ruby with Carilion Hospice of Franklin County for their love and care. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Bradley S. Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Glade Hill Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 82, Glade Hill, Virginia 24092. Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
