Thomas C. Cassell, (Tommy) age 70, of Glade Hill passed away Saturday June 6, 2009. He was born March 1, 1939, son of the late Roy B. and Grace W. Cassell, and was preceded in death by his sisters Thelma Palmer and Virginia Lovell. Subsequent to his retirement from Greyhound Bus Lines in 1987, he pursued interests in real estate and farming. He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Drucille R. Cassell, son Kerry T. Cassell, and wife Cathy of Charlotte, N.C. and three daughters, Donna A. Cooke and husband Barry of Williamsburg, Va. Tammy C. Laushey and husband Jeff of Denver, CO., and Melinda C. Holley and husband Greg of Glade Hill, Va., four grandchildren Tori and Berkley Cassell, Grace and Matthew Holley, one brother John W. Cassell (Billy) and wife Bonnie of Wirtz, Va. two sisters Polly Long of Harrisonburg, Va. and Julia C. Frith of Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Dr. Jack Corvin officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Park.
