Thomas C. Kearney, Sr., died March 3, 2007 after a long illness.
Mr. Kearney lived in New Smyrna Beach, FL but was being cared for by his son and family in Boones Mill, VA for the past year.
Born January 13, 1913 in Pensacola, Florida and was the oldest of nine children. He grew up and lived most of his working life in Miami, FL. He worked in the trucking business and handled the hauling contract for the Seaboard Railroad for many years. He was a 70 year Mason and held many positions in that organization. He was also a member of the Eastern Star. He was a Sunday School Superintendent for the Alta Vista Presbyterian church in Miami for 17 years as well as an Elder and Deacon. He retired and moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL in 1980.
Surviving are his son Thomas Kearney, Jr., Brother Monroe, Sisters Katherine and Eunice, Daughters-in-law JoAnn and Carol, grandchildren Avis, Kim, John, Karen, Kelly and nine great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife Ruby, son Kenneth, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
The memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of New Smyrna Beach, FL, 509 Magnolia St., March 8, 2007. Viewing at 12:00 and service at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Keazirian, officiating.
Mr. Kearney will be laid to rest at Flagler Memorial Gardens in Miami.
