Thomas “Tommy” John Girani, age 31 of Roanoke passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. It is impossible to summarize Tommy’s life and legacy as he truly lived every day to the fullest. His charm and smile were magnetic and had a way of drawing everyone together to laugh. His infectious personality was indescribable, and everyone he met instantly became a best friend to him. The way he loved so deeply and truly left a tremendous impact for good on this world, and he brought light to everyone he touched. Tommy was born on September 3, 1993, to John and Lisa Girani in Goshen, New York. Tommy grew up in Franklin County, Virginia. He graduated from North Cross School in 2012, where he met amazing friends and excelled at lacrosse, football, and swimming; he also participated in basketball. He went on to graduate from Liberty University with a degree in health care management and hospital administration. Tommy played lacrosse for four years while at Liberty, where he travelled the country with his best friends playing the game he loved. After graduation, Tommy continued his legacy with lacrosse by coaching teams, including his alma mater, North Cross, and Salem High School. Tommy’s favorite pastimes included spending time on the water at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, and playing hockey on the same team as his mom. He will be remembered most of all by his love for the New York Rangers. Tommy is survived by his parents, John and Lisa; brother Joey Girani (Jill); sisters, Elise Luch (Brent) and Alaina Girani; nephews, Johnny, Mikey, and Peter Luch; niece, Katarina Luch; grandmother, Bonnie Nadeau; grandfather, John Girani; goddaughter, Delanee Pitts; his puppy, Emmy; and countless family and friends. Services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel in Rocky Mount, Virginia on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
