Thomas William Turner

Thomas William Turner, age 89 of Penhook died Saturday, January 17, 2015. He was born December 6, 1925 in Beckley, West Virginia a son of the late William Ray Turner and Evelyn White. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, J.P. White. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Turner; daughters and son-in-law, Debra Turner, Beth Lucas (Jim); son, Jeff Pratt (Melinda); grandchildren, Martha Hubbard (Beau), Jacob Pratt, Cooper Pratt; brother, James White, Jr.; and sister, Nancy Gibson. Mr. Turner was a United States Navy Veteran and member of Christ Community Church. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1950 with a BS degree in Business Administration and from Washington and Lee in 1956 with a LLB Law degree. He practiced Law from 1956-1959 in Beckley, West Virginia before moving to Martinsville where he retired as Vice President and Trust Officer with Piedmont Trust Bank. Funeral services will be conducted from Christ Community Church 12 noon Friday with Rev. Liz Lazenby officiating. Interment will be private in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Community Church, P.O. Box 100, Penhook, Va. 24137 or a charity of choice.
