Troy Clarence Powers, age 88, of Hardy passed away Wednesday March 7, 2007.
He was born July 27, 1918 to the late George W. and Leonia Scott Powers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sisters Ruby P. Robertson, and Mamie P. Kasey; three brothers Glenn, Cleo and Garfield Powers.
Troy was a member of Oylers Chapel since he was seventeen years old, and was retired from MW Manufacturers.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years Gladys Ellis Powers; two foster children Richard Wyrick of Hardy and Ann Munson and husband Dave of Murfreesboro, TN; two grandchildren Ricky and Andrew Wyrick; sisters-in-law Ruby D. Powers and Maureen H. Powers.
His family would especially like to thank Trinity Mission Health and Rehab for their love and care.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Oylers Chapel United Methodist Church, 2500 Hardy Rd., Hardy, VA 24101.
Funeral services will be conducted from Oylers Chapel United Methodist Church 2:00 p.m. Friday with Pastor Rick Barton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
His family will be receiving friends from 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151
