Vaiden Bowman

Vaiden Bowman, 85, of Rocky Mount, Va., departed this life on Friday, November 24, 2017. He was born on October 4, 1932, in Rocky Mount, Va., to Morie and Myrtle Bishop Bowman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Irene Skiles Bowman, his daughter, Rita Maurine, one great-grandson, Cephas Gabriel Bowman, two sisters, Dorothy Angle (Cleophas), Janie Hubbard (Samuel); one brother, Kyle Bowman; three brothers-in-law, Roy Skiles, Marion Skiles, and David Skiles. He was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Surviving are his sons, Ronald and Velma, Dale and Betty, Harry and Wanda, and Emery and Cheryl; daughter, Wanda and Harmon Beckner; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Randolph Brunk, Jeanette Skiles, Marie and Cherian Matthews, Mabel Skiles, Carmen Skiles, and Dixie Skiles, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Mountain View Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 with The Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery. His family will receive friends 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the church, 249 Dugwell Rd., Boones Mill, VA 24065. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
