Vera Rusgrove Okenquist

Vera Rusgrove Okenquist, age 93 of Rocky Mount died Saturday, September 1, 2012. She was born March 17, 1919 a daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Williams Rusgrove. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Okenquist; brother, Lloyd Rusgrove; and sister-in-law, Doris Baierwick. Surviving are her children, Lois Lord of Victoria, TX, Robert “Bob” Okenquist and wife Cynthia of Ferrum; Eric E. Okenquist, Sr. of East Granby, CT; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Rusgrove and wife Mary of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Grace Allen of East Windsor, CT, and Doris Rusgrove of Athens, GA; many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Trinity Mission of Rocky Mount for their care and concern. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 with Rev. Bradley S. Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Franklin County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 147, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
