Listen to Obituary
Vernell Hall Perdue, age 82 of Rocky Mount left to be with her Savior on Friday, August 12, 2011 surrounded by her children and loved ones. All that knew her well knew she was a special lady with a lot of character. She loved to tell a joke and have a good laugh. She loved working with flowers, cooking and quilting. Her special gift was doing for others. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her eyes. We know she is now with her loved ones and special son, Richard Wayne Perdue who was killed in action at the age of 19 while serving with the USMC. She will be missed dearly by her family, but we know she didn’t leave alone for she took a piece of all our hearts with her. Left to cherish her memory are her four children and spouses, Kenny and Pam Perdue, Bonnie and Mike Walston, Brenda and Jerry Kendrick, Emily “Sue” and Jearl Dillon; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara and Broaddus Shively; brothers, Calvin Hall, Ralph and Joan Hall, Garland and Jeanette Hall, Junior and Ruby Hall; sisters-in-law, Mildred Hall and Frances Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carey Winston “Bob” Perdue; son, Richard Wayne Perdue; parents, Berger and Betty Ann Hall; brothers, Roy Arthur Hall, Raymond Hall, Curtis Hall, Stafford Hall; sisters, Elizabeth Chitwood and Ruthie Hall; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank The Franklin Health Care Group and Good Samaritan Hospice. Very special thanks to Amanda, Marvin, Carrie, Amy and Melanie as you each had a special place in mom’s heart. We will never forget the special things you did for mom during her illness. Special thanks to Tiffany Mountcastle for all the care and love you gave mom while at Franklin Memorial Hospital as mom rested so much better knowing you were her CNA. Funeral services will be conduced from Hodgesville Pentecostal Holiness Church 3 p.m. Monday with Dr. Jackie Spence, Pastor Ronald Coleman and Pastor Travis Gore officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hodgesville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
