Viola G. Poindexter

Viola G. Smith Sigmon Poindexter, age 92, of Rocky Mount went to her heavenly home on July 6, 2016. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Sigmon and her second husband, James Poindexter, her parents, Jim and Sarah Smith, her step-son-in-law Paul Smith and step grandson, Scott Smith and 12 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her three children: CL Sigmon, Cecil (Sandy) Sigmon, Mike (Patty) Sigmon, step daughter Nancy Smith and step son, Jimmy (JoAnn) Poindexter. 4 grandchildren: Dreama Barbour, Kim (Lonnie) Janney, Tracy (Brad) Holley, Justin (Rita) Sigmon. 2 step grandchildren: Kristi (Jack) Norton and Kelli (Shawn) Shively. 8 great grandchildren: Megan, Logan, Kolton, Cameron, Tyler, Taylor, Brooklynn and Brystal; 5 step great grandchildren: Summer, Jackson, Payton, Camden and Kailee along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 with Pastor Doug Sasser officiating. Interment will follow at Republican Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel and other times at her house 200 Old Fort Road, Rocky Mount, VA.
