Violet Sink Wray, age 98 of Rocky Mount born May 11, 1916 went home to be with the Lord Monday, February 16, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ellwood; parents, Marvin and Ella Sink; brothers, Edgar, Cleveland, Ralph, J.B. and Howard Sink. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ronnie Hale; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Wray; grandsons, Bryan Hale, Kelley Mills, Duane and Melissa Hale; granddaughters, Crystal Riggins, Monica and Ken Hall; great-grandchildren, Emma, Colby and Parker Hale, Grace Hale, Kristin Hall and Emma Duncan. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dot Sink, Rachel "Tootie" Peters. Violet was a lifelong member of Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, where she was a Deacon, served on many committees, Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, Sunday School Secretary and sang in the choir. She also loved working with flowers, collecting salt and pepper shakers, crocheting and word finds. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren with Pastor Bruce Huffman and Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
