Virginia May Altice Meador, age 89 of Rocky Mount died Friday, November 19, 2021. She was born May 6, 1932 a daughter of the late James Edward and Mary Catherine Altice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Meador; brothers, Wilford Altice, Alvin Altice, Hermon Altice; and sister, Ocie Grogan. Surviving are her children, Phyllis Ferguson (Danny), Jay Meador (Robin), Mary “Ann” Ellis (Rex), Jennifer Meador-Parton (James); grandchildren, Michelle Ferguson (Stephen), Michael Meador, Randall Ellis (Britny), Nathaniel Ellis and special friend, Brooke, Shannon Louise Ellis, Alyson Meador and special friend, Mallie, Gabrielle Parton, Grace Parton, Aidan Parton; great-grandchild, Eno Haren; sister-in-law, Jean Meador; cousin, Billy Altice; special companion, Miss Ed; and dear friend and neighbor, Chappie Firebaugh. Mrs. Meador worked 19 years with Dupont and also 17 years with Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. She was a good and faithful servant of Jesus Christ and has finished her race. Special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their care and concern. Flowers will be accepted of memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24018. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 1 p.m. Monday with Chaplain Hunter Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
