Virginia "Cindy" Bailey Turpin

Cindy Turpin, age 91 of Rocky Mount passed into glory Saturday, August 12, 2023 surrounded by her family. Cindy was born to Joseph and Virginia Scott Bailey on February 1, 1932 and was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Charles Turpin. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine “Catie” Altice (Greg); and special cousins, Jeff Gardner (Ellen) and Chris Gardner (Nan). Her legacy of service filled her life. She served as president, secretary or treasurer to numerous organizations throughout the years. Cindy loved her church and was a founding member of the first Catholic Church in Franklin County, where she devotedly served on many of its committees. The fam­ily will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia. A Funeral Mass will be conducted from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 12:00 noon Thursday, August 17, 2023 with Fr. Sal Anonuevo officiating. Interment will follow in Historic High Street Cemetery in Rocky Mount. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 15 Glennwood Drive, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 or a charity of your choice.
