Virginia Skiles Bowman

Virginia Irene Skiles Bowman, age 83 of Rocky Mount departed this life on Monday, July 20, 2015. She was born January 5, 1932 in Pendleton, Indiana to John A. Skiles and Keturah I. Kinsley Skiles. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rita Maurine; three brothers, Roy, Marion and David; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Cleophas Angle, Janie and Samuel Hubbard; one brother-in-law, Kyle Bowman. She was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Vaiden Bowman; sons, Ronald and Velma, Dale and Betty, Harry and Wanda, Emery and Cheryl; daughter, Wanda and Harmon Beckner; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Skiles, Marie and Cherian Matthews; and sisters-in-law, Mabel Skiles, Carmen Skiles, Dixie Skiles, Arlene and Randolph Brunk. Funeral services will be conducted at Mountain View Old German Baptist Brethren Church 10 a.m. Thursday with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. Her family will receive friends 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
