Virginia Irene Woods, age 79 of Ferrum went to be with our Lord in heaven on Thursday, August 23, 2007 while at Stanleytown Healthcare Center.
She was born on June 12, 1928 in Patrick County a daughter of the late John Henry Dillon and Vergie Leu Gilley Odell.
Mrs. Woods is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Benjamin K. Woods; three sons and their wives, Larry E. and Susan Diane Woods of Ferrum, Benjamin Michael and Patricia Woods of Roanoke, Randall and Donna Woods of Ferrum; three brothers, Arthur Odell, David Odell, Daniel Jayhue Odell; two sisters, Mamie Odell and Jeanette Reynolds all of Patrick Springs; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Ferrum until illness struck her down many years ago. After a long struggle with several medical problems and a stroke she is finally at rest with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” II Timothy 4:7.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Eugene Robertson and Pastor Freddy Bonds officiating. Interment will follow in St. James United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ferrum.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Friday with her family receiving friends from 6-8:30 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
