Virginia Elizabeth Lawrence, age 88 of Collinsville passed away Monday, June 15, 2026. Born September 21,1937 to James Legwin Lawrence and Gladys Mae Rigney Lawrence, she grew up in Snow Creek in Franklin County. She worked mainly in furniture factories and retired from Stanley Furniture. After retiring she helped with grandkids and great-grandkids for a while. She also did what she could for family members in area nursing homes. She was a very good artist painting on canvas, shirts, rocks and wood.

In her younger years she enjoyed squirrel hunting. She was an excellent shot and got dubbed Annie Oakley once. In her older years, she enjoyed feeding and watching squirrels and birds in her yard. She took pride in hosting family reunions each year with her sister, Dorothy. She and Dorothy were the family historians and kept it all updated as needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gladys; her siblings and their spouses, Gladys and James Odie Walker, Richard Lawrence, Lloyd and Frances Lawrence, Shelby Nance, Dorothy and Vernon Walker, Frankie and Frances Lawrence and William Lawrence; and infant sister, Patsy.

Surviving are her two daughters and one son-in-law, Sheila Hall Motley, Sharon and Tommy Hubbard; her grandchildren, Brandon and Erika Motley, Treva and Eric Tilley, Sean and Adrienne Hubbard; great-grandchildren, Hallie Motley, Hailey Hoyt, Eyan Hubbard, Eli Motley, Cole Motley, Seth Hubbard, Emma Tilley and Ryker Tilley; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Leland George; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Edward and Sheree Lawrence and Dianne Lawrence; one honorary son, Desmond Kendrick; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Fork Mountain Rest Home and Amedisys Hospice for their care.

Funeral services will be conducted from Boones Chapel Church 12 noon Thursday, June 18, 2026. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
