Virginia Woods Whitaker

Virginia W. Whitaker, age 79, of Ferrum, passed away Saturday September 22, 2007. She was a lifelong resident of Ferrum where she was member of the Ferrum Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of New Life Tabernacle Baptist Church. Surviving are sisters Ruby Worley and Sylvia Spencer; brothers James Woods, Jr., Frank Woods and Bernard Woods; children Margaret Gonzalez, David and Sharon Ferguson, Tim and Faye Ferguson, and Bobbi and William Thompson; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers her family asks that donations be made to the Ferrum Fire Department, 95 Shively Rd, Ferrum, VA 24088 or to Gideons International, Franklin County Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 915 Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. Jim Walls officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
