Virginia B. Wigington, age 92 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, July 10, 2012. Born July 24, 1919 a daughter of the late, Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Wigington; she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Parker and William Wigington; sister, Winifred Wigington; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Prillaman Wigington and Helen McGhee Wigington; nephew, Harry G. and wife Martha Wigington of Erie, PA. She served in the US Navy (WAVES) during World War II, trained at Hunter College, Bronx, NY and A&M College, Stillwater, OK, and also served in the Bureau of Personnel in Washington, DC. She is survived by a nephew and his wife, Jim and Carol Wigington of Corvallis, Oregon, their two children, Chris Wigington of Creswell, Oregon and Mandy Williams of Redding, California; and two great-nieces, Shannon Dunbar and Mark Clark of Erie, Pennsylvania. Services will be held in the Chapel of Devotion at Mountain View Memorial Park 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Bruce D. Tuttle officiating. The family request no flowers and that memorial donations be made to Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, 35 North Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 or a charity of choice.
