Virginia Greer Williams, 76, of Rocky Mount, died on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. She was the youngest child of Moses and Goldie Greer. Two brothers, James and Keister, predeceased her. "Ginnie Lee," as she was known to her friends and family, was married for 53 years to Robert Herman Williams who passed away in April 2012. She loved Franklin County and had a keen knowledge of its families, places, and history. She applied her love and knowledge of her community to her work as a title researcher, later establishing the company History, etc. She was a founding member of the Franklin County Historical Society and was one of the local historians who worked with John and Emily Salmon as they researched and wrote the bicentennial history of the county. Among her many interests, hunting was at the forefront her entire life. She appreciated the challenge and skill presented by hunting game, she loved the outdoors, and she particularly enjoyed the camaraderie she shared with many hunting friends. Other pursuits included photographing nature, landscaping and horticulture, reading, and following NASCAR. Ginnie Lee is survived by her daughter, Cecile Garrett and her husband, Scott, and their children, Holly and Cole. She is also survived by her son, Madison Williams, along with his wife, Sally, and their daughter, Shelby Mariah. She is survived by her sister, Pat Hiller, and her husband, Ron, of Harrison Township, Michigan. Ginnie Lee leaves behind many friends who will fondly remember her quick wit and her vast reserve of entertaining stories. Arrangements are being handled by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday October 4 from 5-7. A graveside funeral service, conducted by Reverend Roy G. Pollina, Rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Martinsville will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at the Greer Cemetery in Sontag. The family will receive guests at the cabin immediately following the service. Memorial gifts may be made to Celeste Park, a park in Rocky Mount named in memory of her late niece, Celeste Claiborne Greer.
