Virginia Young Woods

Virginia Young Woods, age 82 of Ferrum passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Nannie Kate Young and a sister, Louise Jordon. She was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren and loved serving in anyway as a faithful christian. Virginia had many talents including cooking, sewing, homemaking and caring for her family. Surviving are her husband, Harold Woods; her children and their spouses, Debra and Larry Rakestraw, Wesley and Edie Robertson, Carolyn and Cliff Perdue, Pam and Larry Gibson; step-daughter and husband, Barbara and Gene Parker; step-sons and their spouses, Todd and Lisa Woods, Tim and Kitty Woods; seven grandchildren, Angie Perdue, Chad Perdue, Melissa Hodges, Brad Hodges, Lesley Robertson, Veleka Crum, Andy Pendleton; nine great- grandchildren, Kylee Pendleton, Aiden Pendleton, Camron Swartz, Brianna Aliff, Haley Young, Allison Hodges, Amanda Hodges, Tanner Hodges, Landon Hodges; special brother-in-law, Buddy Jordon. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jeff Wray officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Fairview Church In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fairview Church of the Brethren, in care of Thomas Young, 60 Belmont Drive, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
